From March 16th to 20th, the EXCALIBUR project proudly participated in the 2nd Annual ECHOES meeting in Poznań, Poland. The event buzzed with activity, bringing together 187 partners from 30 countries and 13 sister projects under the same roof for a week of intense collaboration and community-building.
While the week featured a packed agenda of internal meetings, the highlight for EXCALIBUR and the broader cultural heritage community took place on Day 3 during the Public Event held at the magnificent National Museum in Poznań.

Highlighting EXCALIBUR’s Contributions
Our partners from CERTH’s Brain, Health & Virtual Reality Group and Catalink represented EXCALIBUR project in the ECHOES Second Annual Event. Wednesday sessions opened the floor to sister projects, the Independent board, and the European Commission to discuss the future of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). EXCALIBUR was in front and center during these crucial conversations:
- Taking the Stage: Georgia Georgiou, from our Coordination team at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), represented EXCALIBUR during the first “Cultural Heritage Cloud ecosystem” panel discussion.
- Integrating Advanced Toolkits: During the panel, Ms Georgiou discussed how EXCALIBUR’s advanced digital twin and AI toolkits can seamlessly integrate into the emerging ECCCH.
- Showcasing Our Mission: The EXCALIBUR project banner was on full display at the National Museum, visually representing our mission to revolutionize the conservation and restoration of burial excavations and human remains through interdisciplinary digital technologies.
- Fostering Ecosystem Collaboration: The panel discussion offered an incredible opportunity to engage directly with the European Commission and other sister projects, such as AUTOMATA, UNICHE, COLOURS, INFINITY, and PlaceMUS XR, to align on the tools being developed and the specific communities they target.
- Hands-on Integration: Beyond the public panels, the latter half of the week featured the first on-site ECHOES Integration Task Force meeting, providing EXCALIBUR and other sister projects with parallel hands-on sessions to actively facilitate and refine the integration process across the entire ECCCH ecosystem.

A Unified Vision for Cultural Heritage
The Poznań event also marked a significant milestone for the broader digital heritage landscape. Europeana and ECHOES officially signed a Joint Statement on stage, solidifying that the Data Space for Cultural Heritage and the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage are two halves of the same unified vision.
For EXCALIBUR, collaboration is the true heartbeat of our project. The exchanges, cross-fertilization of ideas, and strategic alignments achieved over these five days in Poznań are vital steps toward building a sustainable, integrated digital future for European heritage.
We look forward to continuing this momentum and sharing further developments over the coming year!
